I've been considering for a while whether to finally opt for Qupzilla and leave Firefox until it integrates better with KDE (unlikely) or to continue supporting the philosophy of the Mozilla foundation. My machine is not the problem since I have plenty of resources, right now my problem is my graphics that I use an ATI HD4000 and every 2 by 3 I am missing some OpenGL component (needless to say, the Radeon driver is great how it works, but it can't offer what a well-made official would offer xD), I use the menubar widget and a bar as Dock, and I find myself with the integration problem, that's why I have been using Qupzilla for a long time. ![]() The problem I find myself with is that for the desktop that I want, the only great browsers are Chromium or Chrome (not QT) which best integrate and Rekonq and Qupzilla (QT), the integration of Firefox and Opera in the Plasma is painful and I'm tired of downloading packages to make GTK applications compatible and that in the end it doesn't work. To help you, here are the installation commands on some popular distros:Īrch and derivatives: sudo pacman -S qupzilla Installing Qupzilla is very easy as it comes in the repositories of almost all major distributions. When QtWebServer is ready (replacing QtWebkit), Qupzilla will migrate to Blink. On the cover of this blog, Qupzilla consumes 63 MBs, while Firefox it still consumes 160 MBs.On the default page the consumption of Qupzilla drops to 16 MBs, while Firefox is located at 160 MBs. ![]()
